By Lennard G. Wilkie
(A poem dedicated to “The many Who Dare to Think and Act”)
What if,
In this world,
Where limits
Multiply everywhere,
You could turn
Your everyday steps
Into Giant Leap
And Scale
The highest mountain
What if,
You could shatter
This hidden mountain
Of self-doubts
And fear of others,
Walking in open faith
Towards the life you
Truly want.

What if,
You could stumble
Upon the richest place,
Where treasures infinite
Glow and Glitter
In dark ignorance,
Awaiting the Light
Seekers.
What if,
This secret place
Is your own deep mind
Full of dreams and ideals
Love and Friendship
And the will to overcome
Th challenges
Of this age of
Awakening

What if,
You could think beyond
Heavens
And bring to earth
All that is good and free
New and generous
To one and al

What if,
You stand Tall
In word and deed
Becoming Spirit Free
And believe,
Why not.
On behalf of the People of Trinidad and Tobago, the world of readers and dreamers, and on our own heartfelt personal behalf, we wish to thank San Fernando born-and-bred poet Lennard G. Wilkie for giving us this beautiful piece of writing at a time when, as he so poignantly asks,
“What if,
You could stumble
Upon the richest place
Where treasures infinite
Glow and Glitter
In dark ignorance,
Awaiting the Light
Seekers”
Thank you, Lennard, friend of a life-time, for forever churning out your offerings of guidance and wisdom to many who cannot hear, most who do not listen, and the few who may remember.

Write your poems anyway, knowing that someday they will fall on fertile soil, perhaps in another magical moment way outside this nebulous realm.
